Johnnie Walker Challenge
Johnnie Walker Challenge
The Nomads Johnnie Walker Challenge is one of South Africa’s premier amateur golf competitions, rewarding consistency, commitment, and performance throughout the Nomads calendar year.
Proudly supported by Johnnie Walker and Diageo, the Challenge recognises players who consistently perform at a high level, culminating in a prestigious national finals event.
How It Works
Members compete in monthly Nomads games throughout the year. Each player’s best 8 scores are used to calculate an average, which determines their overall standing. This ensures that success is based on consistent performance over time.
Qualification
To qualify for the Challenge, players must participate in a minimum of 8 monthly Nomads games within the calendar year. The top 8 scores are then averaged to determine rankings.
National Finals
The top players from each Nomads club qualify for the National Finals, typically held in June each year. Each club sends its leading players (for example, 12 qualifiers per club), bringing together the best Nomads golfers from across the country.
Recognition
Each club crowns its own Johnnie Walker Challenge winner, while the top players nationally compete for the overall title at the finals.
The Johnnie Walker Challenge represents the true spirit of Nomads golf — consistency, sportsmanship, and excellence over time.
